The use of AI has been booming for the past two years, but besides opportunities this growth also creates new challenges. AI alone could soon be consuming as much electricity as a country such as the Netherlands. This is equal to half of Australia’s total electricity consumption. This rapid growth poses a risk to electricity grids and CO2 mitigation objectives, which means we’ll have to find way to innovate in a responsible manner.
